Foothill Performance Wool Walking Socks
MAJORITY MERINO WOOL. All Foothill wool walking socks are at least 60% pure new wool. Wool is the best fibre for walking socks because of it's unique dual ability to wick away moisture from the foot and absorb it also. This means your feet stay dry and comfortable.
Synthetic fibres will wick away moisture from the skin but do not have the capacity to absorb so the much moisture returns to the skin unless it can evaporate. Wool is also one of the most quick drying of natural fibres.
SOFT AND ITCHLESS. Forget those old fashioned itchy wool walking socks. Our Merino wool is a super fine micron which means it's lovely and soft.
LONG LASTING. Foothill thick walking socks are designed to last. From the raw materials to the fabric construction we have long-lasting wear in mind.
The merino wool is blended with a small amount of nylon to reduce wear. Areas such as the heel and toe are reinforced with extra yarn.
THICKER THAN AVERAGE. Our thick walking socks are made to a significantly higher fabric density than most. Our fabric is cushioned loop pile and at 60+ grams per sock (size 9-11) are significantly more dense than most other leading brands. This ensures that the socks give superior shock absorbtion, ultimate comfort and long lasting wear.
FIT AND SUPPORT. By paying attention to details of knitting construction the fit of a walking hiking sock can be improved. All Foothill wool walking socks feature:
ARCH SUPPORT BRACE. Extra lycra elastication in the centre of the foot allows the fabric to hug the insole ensuring no baggines.
Y HEEL. Extra fashioning so that the shape of the sock is not only turned to make the foot angle but also shaped outwards a little to accomodate the ankle bone.
ANKLE SUPPORT ELASTICATION. Lycra elastication above the ankle of the leg ensures your socks stay in place during active use.
TOTAL EASY CARE. We use shrink-resistant wool so Foothill walking socks can be washed at 40 degrees and tumble dried. This is unlike cheaply made socks which are only machine washable because they are made from unsuitable fibres such as acrylic and cotton. The best walking socks are made from shrink-resistant wool.
AEGIS ANTI-MICROBIAL SHIELD. All Foothill wool walking socks contain the Aegis anti-microbe shield. This controls the bacteria and fungi which cause odour, keeping your feet fresher for longer.
